Uniform
Standards at North Durham Academy are extremely high, and this starts with the way your child presents themselves to school. Academy uniform is compulsory, and exceptions cannot be made if your child attends school not dressed in full Academy uniform.

How to order Uniform
You can order all your child’s Academy uniform direct with SWI by going to their website https://www.swischoolwear.co.uk and the Parent Guide.
For guidance on sizing – click here – and open the tab labelled ‘Sizing’.
New customers will be asked to register and follow the online instructions to link their account to a chosen school. Once registered (and you have added students to a school) parents can begin to order straight away. Once logged in, parents will need to click on ‘School Store’ in the header of the site. This page will list all of the products associated with the Academy.
Using the online service, you can either choose to have delivery made to your home address or alternatively to the Academy.
Home Delivery Charges – SWI
Orders over £70 are sent to home free of charge;
Orders under £70 sent to a home address (or other specified) incur a £4.50 delivery charge.

Compulsary
Grey blazer with academy logo; either fitted or regular;
Academy Tie: each year group will have their own colour tie. More information can be found in our uniform policy.
White shirt – short or long sleeved with collar;
Black pleated school skirts are only accepted, jersey skater style or tight skirts are not accepted. Skirts should be plain black and length should be just above the knee.
Or students can wear loose fitting trousers that skim the top of the shoe. No leggings. Trousers must have a button and zip fastening at the front of the trouser;
Black tights no less than 80 denier. Bare legs are not acceptable;
Black socks only, that cover the ankle, no trainer or branded socks are accepted.
Plain black belt that must fit into the belt loop of the trouser, if required.
All students must to carry a bag with them that can fit an A4 folder and their equipment.
PE Kit
PE Kit Policy
Our school PE kit is available to purchase from: www.swischoolwear.co.uk
Compulsory Items
All students are expected to wear the correct PE kit for every lesson. The following items are compulsory:
· Purple NDA training t-shirt
· Black NDA ¼ zip top
During periods of warmer weather, the purple t-shirt alone is acceptable
Were families cannot access the school's compulsory PE tops a plane black t-shirt or ¼ zip can be worn but this should be as an interim measure until compulsary PE kit is purchased.
Permitted:
These items must not have designer logos.
Lower Body Items
Students must also wear one of the following:
· Black shorts
· Black leggings
· Black skort
· Black tracksuit bottoms
Lower body items should be plain black and not contain stripes; a small logo is acceptable.
Not permitted:
Or garments of a similar nature
Footwear
· Suitable sports trainers are required for all lessons.
· It is strongly recommended that students also have football or rugby boots for outdoor activities.
Hair & Safety
· Students with hair longer than shoulder length, or hair covering their eyes, must tie it back with a bobble for safety reasons.
Students Unable to Participate
· If a student cannot take part in PE, parents/carers must inform the PE department with a written note (emails may not be read in time).
· Students who are excused must still bring their full PE kit and will take on a support role in the lesson.
· Only students who are physically unable to get changed will be allowed to stay in school uniform.
Forgotten or Incorrect Kit
If a student does not have the correct kit, they are expected to borrow from the school’s supply. Kit issues will be recorded on Class Charts under one of the following categories:
1. No Kit – Borrowed
o Student wears school-provided kit.
o After 3 occasions, an after-school detention will be issued.
2. No Kit – Refused to Borrow
o Student will complete work in the SRR (Student Referral Room) for the remainder of the lesson, if they refuse to borrow any item of kit (bobble included)
o An after-school detention will be issued.
3. Incorrect Kit
o Student wears incorrect items (non-school PE kit).
o After 3 occasions, an after-school detention will be issued.
Any concerns or queries around PE kit should be directed to the Head of PE who will be happy to advise.
Trousers and Skirts
Please note that chain stores may sell items as school uniform, which are not acceptable at North Durham Academy. We DO NOT ALLOW tight or stretchy leggings, jeans or trousers which look like them.
All skirts must be pleated. We do not accept skater style flared skirts that are jersey in material.
Footwear
All shoes should be polishable – leather or mock leather. No canvas/cloth/suede/rubber shoes are permitted.
Branded black pumps are not allowed – no buckles, logos, or colours except plain black.
Boots are also not allowed.
